Tianxiang (Sophia) Wang

Data scientist

Tianxiang Wang is a Data Scientist intern on the Finance Team at the Center for Community Energy. Her current work focuses on analyzing electric Time-of-Use (TOU) pricing and developing a predictive model that incorporates TOU rates as a parameter to support financial forecasting and planning.

Tianxiang holds a B.S. in Applied Mathematics from the University of California, San Diego, where she specialized in the Statistics and Optimization track. She is now pursuing her M.S. in Data Science at UC San Diego through the Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute (HDSI). Prior to joining CCE, Tianxiang worked on several data science projects, including building time series forecasting models for crude oil prices and developing a logistic regression model to predict and reduce credit card customer churn.

She is proficient in Python, R, and SQL, and has hands-on experience with databases such as PostgreSQL, Redis, and MongoDB. Her areas of expertise include causal inference, statistical modeling, business analytics, A/B testing, and hypothesis testing. Tianxiang is passionate about applying data-driven methods to solve real-world problems in both the financial and environmental sectors.
