What We Focus on at CCE
Since we were founded in 2019 as a spinoff of the San Diego Energy District, CCE has focused on the following:
- Electrification: strategies that do not require massively expensive electric grid upgrades.
- The “Duck Curve” Problem: Creating and promoting a new solution to California’s major energy problem.
- E-Transportation: The value and challenges of electric vehicles (EVs) and electric bikes (e-bikes).
- Solar and Solar Carports: Promoting local solar, solar carports, and local microgrids to enable charging EVs during the day from solar.
- Distributed Energy Resources: The value of local distributed energy resources (DER) and the potential of EVs as DER.
- Bi-directional charging of EVs: Promoting bidirectional changing for EVs and enabling homeowners to maximize the value of the batteries in their EVs by being able to power their homes when electricity is most expensive.
- Energy Policy in California: Working as an intervenor before the California Public Utilities Commission.
- Strategies for Underserved Communities: Working to assist and empower those who live and work in underserved communities.
- Our Growing Intern and Volunteer Program: Working with college students as well as volunteers to address real world challenges related to the issues listed above.
